It’s August, and that means we’ve officially reached those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. What more is there to do than just lounge and let the days run together? Stream. All. The. Things.
Here’s a look at some of the headliners streaming this August!
On Netflix, new releases to stream include several of the service’s original shows, such as the third season of “Glow” and the second season of “Derry Girls.” Other titles that you can stream on Netflix this month are “Groundhog Day,” the “Rocky” series, “Gangs of New York” and “Sex and the City: The Movie.”
And, for all you streamers living off that ‘90s nostalgia, look out for “Now and Then,” the coming-of-age story following four teenage girls from middle school into adulthood. Those who were a little younger in that decade can also find “Rocko’s Modern Life,” a new movie based on the Nickelodeon show.
HBO Now’s new releases include the second season of “Succession,” featuring your favorite dysfunctional family, along with a new comedy series, “The Righteous Gemstones,” which follows a world-famous televangelist family and its relationship with deviance, greed and charitable work.
If you’re ready for the football season, you’ll look forward to “Hard Knocks,” which follows the Oakland Raiders through its preseason practices and games. It’ll show you just enough of Coach Jon Gruden and that connection between quarterback Derek Carr and wide receiver Antonio Brown that might make you start second guessing who you will draft on your fantasy football team.
HBO movie releases in August include superhero movie “Aquaman” and four-time Oscar winning movie “The Favourite.”
And, last but not least are all the new releases streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Theatrical releases include the latest in the “Mission: Impossible” series, action movie “300,” thriller “A Simple Favor” and rom-coms “Failure to Launch” and “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.”
Also streaming on Amazon this August is a standup special from Jim Gaffigan and a docu-series, produced by rapper Jay-Z, about rapper Meek Mill’s 2017 arrest, which sparked a public outcry for criminal justice reform.
