Over the past few years, Windstream has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into modernizing our network to better serve you.
During the past few weeks, the COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated that a strong communications network is vital to our country. Social distancing has moved education online, work from home has become a necessity, family and friends are staying connected with video conferencing tools, we are keeping healthy with telemedicine doctor visits, and staying entertained with streaming and gaming services as we face this challenge together.
We are monitoring our network closely and we are happy to inform you that it is performing very well. We have seen a 30% increase in data traffic and a 50% increase in voice traffic, but we have experienced no network slowdowns.
In technical terms, we migrated Windstream to scalable, robust equipment and IP/Ethernet services. What that means to you: the network works when you need it to most. Also, our investments have enabled a significant amount of additional speed in our network.
