Are you among those who are looking for other options besides cable? Maybe it’s that you aren’t watching all those channels, and you just can’t justify spending so much on a cable package. Or maybe you’re wanting to look for cheaper options, watch high-quality entertainment or have access to your movies and shows anytime, anywhere and on any device.
Sound familiar? If so, your next step, then, would be to look for alternative TV options, namely Internet TV providers. Internet TV, a synonym for over-the-top (OTT) television, is simply viewable content that is delivered over, that’s right, your Internet. (And that will mean that you’ll want a decent Internet connection to ensure high-quality streaming, but we’ll get to that later.)
And, believe it or not, there are more options than ever for you to stream TV. There are video-on-demand services, like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video. These options typically have rotating selections of movies on demand, some of which you can download, each month. (Check out our blog to see the latest shows and movies streaming on Netflix, HBO Now and Amazon Prime Video every month.)
A second streaming TV option is linear OTT TV, which most resembles a cable package, though, with fewer channels. These typically take the form of live TV streaming apps, such as our own Kinetic TV, along with Sling TV, DIRECTV Now and Hulu Live.
So, which is best for you? The average American household has an average of three streaming services, so chances are that you’ll want more than one.
If you’re making the switch from cable, you may want to take a look at some of the top linear streaming apps, including Kinetic TV.
It’s the total entertainment package that your household has been waiting for. Not quite sure? Let’s take a closer look at what makes our streaming TV option better than the rest:
The others: Provide fewer hours of DVR or an equal amount — for a price.
Kinetic TV: Offers up to 50 hours free of cloud DVR.
What it means for you: Store even more of your favorite shows and movies to watch — or rewatch — anytime, anywhere and on any device. And, it’s completely on us.
The others: Get an antenna.
Kinetic TV: Included in the base (“Select”) package.
What it means for you: Don’t spend any more money than you need to buy an antenna. Kinetic TV provides local channels in our base package. That means you won’t have to miss out on your local news or your network television shows because those fall season premieres will be here before you know it.
The others: Two streams max.
Kinetic TV: Get three streams going simultaneously.
What it means for you: Family can’t settle on just one thing to stream on TV? No more taking turns. No more rock, paper, scissors. No more settling and catching up on your show later. Stream three different shows or movies — all at the same time — and everyone at home will be happy.
The others: Fewer channels.
Kinetic TV: Our base package starts at 60+ popular national programming channels and about 50 music channels.
What it means for you: You’ll get a total entertainment package with Kinetic TV. Need we say more?
The others: Download all the apps, even beyond streaming — but only until you hit the storage limit.
Kinetic TV: We’ve doubled the amount of storage for your Kinetic TV box compared to most Android devices and the Amazon Fire TV Stick. We’ve also built in Google Chromecast and Google Assistant for even more ways to get any content you please!
What it means for you: More storage means more apps, and that goes beyond streaming services. Download games, social media accounts, web browsers and even cookbook apps! The possibilities are endless, and it doesn’t even stop there. With built-in Chromecast, we’ve given you more options to expand your entertainment from your phone to your television screen. And, with Google Assistant, you’ll have the added convenience of voice commands! Need to know the weather or local traffic conditions? Ask Google Assistant! Need a rundown of the latest scores on the big game? Ask Google Assistant! You can even interact with your apps with the “Talk” feature!
Interested in learning more about our streaming TV service? Read our blog about the frequently asked questions we get about Kinetic TV. The service is app-based, so once you’ve downloaded the free app and logged in, you can navigate using your streaming device’s remote control, your touchscreen mobile device or the voice navigation built in to your Kinetic TV remote.
Ready to start making moves? Know that Kinetic TV is currently in select markets, though we will expand this initiative to other areas throughout the year. If it isn’t available in your area yet, check back with your local retail store to see when it might be headed your way!
