Each year, the holidays come around and everything seems to be centered around “receiving.” Your kids make their wish lists, you play secret santa with your coworkers and you’re constantly checking under the tree to see what gifts have your name on them. This year, we wanted to change the narrative, and encourage our customers to get in the giving spirit, just in time for the holidays.
In today’s technology-driven world, we are always looking to ensure future generations have the tools necessary to compete in the workforce. That’s why on #GivingTuesday, we donated $1,000 and 10 laptops to the Boys and Girls Club of LeFlore County in Poteau, Okla.
“We are so grateful for Windstream and their donation that will help us serve over 400 local Boys and Girls Club children,” said Arielle Perry, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of LeFlore County. “We hope that other businesses will follow suit and give a donation to organizations that are doing positive things in our community.”
According to its website, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, and succeeding the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
Members of the Boys and Girls Club of LeFlore County board of directors and Poteau Chamber of Commerce were in attendance during the presentation and spoke to the importance of #GivingTuesday and donations such as these.
We are committed to investing in the Kinetic Communities in which we live and serve. This holiday season, we encourage each of our customers to give the gift of joy by donating time, money, food or gifts to a charity or nonprofit organization that you care for. Locally, regionally or nationally, it will take all of us to ensure that everyone is connected this holiday season.
